LGMS is out and about participating in the LGAQ's Elected Member Updates (EMU) and providing updates to Councils on the benefits and initiatives of the mutual schemes and unrivalled value they provide to our members.  Over the last month LGMS has provided updates to the following councils: Ipswich City Council, Maranoa Regional Council, Sunshine Coast Council, Somerset Regional Council, Noosa Shire Council and Gympie Regional Council (combined), Balonne Regional Council, Lockyer Valley Regional Council, Bundaberg Regional Council, Central Highlands Regional Council, Isaac Regional Council, Gladstone Regional Council, Banana Shire Council, Mackay Regional Council, Rockhampton Regional Council, Barcaldine Regional Council, Longreach Regional Council, Winton Regional Council, Barcoo Regional Council, Whitsunday Regional Council and Fraser Coast Regional Council.

The EMU sessions provide the LGMS team with an opportunity to share important information with members on surplus distributions and recent scheme initiatives which will assist Councils with financial sustainability.  Our EMU presentations are tailored to each member council visit where possible, giving specific information relevant to them.  It is also an opportunity for our LGMS representatives to discuss current insurance market conditions and the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on a global scale. The mutual model enables LGMS members to spread their councils risks across the mutual scheme local government portfolio which makes it a more attractive option to secure covers in the open insurance markets.
