LGM Liability

Lgm logo

In December 1993, the LGAQ executed a deed of trust establishing Queensland Local Government Mutual (LGM) as a trust. The principal object of the trust was to operate a mutual scheme designed to manage public liability and professional indemnity risks of members of LGAQ which may arise in connection with the exercise by the members of any of their powers, duties or functions.

By virtue of these documents, LGM operates as a mutual scheme. There is a clear distinction between the mutual scheme operated by LGM and statutory concepts of insurance. LGM does not issue policies of insurance. The relationship between LGAQ and LGM scheme members is one of trustee and discretionary trust beneficiary.

LGM Liability provides a suite of covers tailored to address members’ legal liability exposures.  Covers included as part of LGM Liability membership are:

  • Public and Products Liability and Professional Indemnity
  • Councillor & Officers’ Liability and Employment Practices Liability
  • Cyber Liability
  • Casual Hirers Liability
