WHS Award of Excellence

Back

In September 2020 Pauline Heath from LGW Workcare conducted a WHS full systems audit of Banana Shire Council, resulting in an audit score of 75.7% (benchmark is 70%). It was evident that a significant amount of work had been done between 2020 and 2014 (the year of the last LGW audit).

The 2020 audit score made Council eligible for the WHS Award of Excellence, which was presented at the Council meeting on Wednesday 24 March. CEO Tom Upton acknowledged the efforts of all staff, in particular Principal WHS Business Partner, Mayuri Gosalia.

The audit score was the result of a whole of organisation effort. It was led by Mayuri and her team, driven on the ground by Council’s HS representatives and combined with the commitment, support and engagement of Council’s Leadership Group.
