How vital is an induction process to reducing risks for labour hire workers?

As for any person attending a work site, work health and safety risks need to be appropriately managed by the party in control of the site.

Labour hire arrangements are slightly different in that there are two ‘employers’; council as the host employer – who has control of the site – and the labour hire employer.

An employer automatically bears a proportion of liability exposure in the event of an accident. This is by virtue of its non-delegable duty of care to its employee. However, the primary liability exposure will fall on the host employer who exercises control over the risks the labour hire employee will face during their duties.
